Hello Families! My name is Ellen Sauka and I am so excited to continue my dream of providing home based early childhood education. Children bring such a raw presence into the world and I love holding space for all that they are. Being able to share in the joys of learning with a friend, determination to accomplish a challenging task and children's innate curiosity to figure out the world are a few reasons why I love the early childhood profession.

I have two degrees from the University of North Dakota; Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.  I have been teaching early childhood for 8 years. The beginning of my career was in  public education as a kindergarten teacher (2 years) and second grade teacher (2 years)  at Park Terrace Elementary in Spring Lake Park. I then opened an in-home daycare with my best friend in Minneapolis, MN which was open for four years. I also have my yoga teacher certification and have previously taught prenatal yoga. I use knowledge from my education to create a loving, safe and routine environment. I give purposeful instruction and provide gentle but direct guidance. I am a driven learner myself and choose to keep my teaching license active by engaging in many more professional development hours than is required by family childcare. I use my knowledge about early childhood learning and early childhood psychology to meet the needs of the children in my care.

 My husband Matt and I welcomed our first child into our family in April of 2020 and our second child In December of 2021! Much of our time is spent together as a family exploring this great and beautiful world. I consider myself a go-getter and I'm always up for trying something new or enjoying a favorite hobby.  My hobbies are spending time in the great outdoors, loving animals (especially my dog Fred and kitty Kiko), cooking, gardening, practicing yoga, home projects, crafts, games, reading and exploring the world with my family! I focus on taking life in stride while finding the joy in life and bringing joy into the world.
